You can find answers to frequently asked questions regarding Rhino Tanks below. Should you have additional questions for us, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us through our contact form.

Q: Do Rhino Tanks have the same strength to withhold water as the Concrete tanks?
A: All the tanks have been designed by independent engineers and are built to the required standard

Q: Can the tanks be buried?
A: The tanks can be buried with some limitations

Q: Does the water in the tank heat up in extremely hot conditions?
A: No, due to the large body of water, the sun only being on part of the wall at any one time and the reflective quality of the Zincalume steel, the ambient temperature will have no effect on the water. We have many tanks in above 50° Celsius conditions without problems.

Q: Does the water go stale if stored in the tank for an extended period?
A: No, due to the quality of the liner the water will keep fresh for 12 months

Q: What is the composition of the steel and will it corrode?
A: The steel shell has a zinc aluminum coating and because the liquid is contained within the tank liner it has no contact with the steel. Cathodic protection is used to prevent corrosion around the base of the tank

Q: Can the tank/liner be repaired at site? How much time would it take?
A: Yes, onsite  liner and or tank repairs can be achieved quickly and easily.

Q: Can they be built on elevated platforms?
A: Yes the tanks can be built at height with the necessary safety considerations

Q: What pH can the liner handle?
A: The liners can handle pH ranging from 3-11

Q: What all liquids apart from Water can be stored in the tank?
A: Many Liquids other than water can be stored including vegetable oil, palm oil, coconut oil or and mild chemicals

Q: Do the tanks get affected by earthquakes?
A: The tanks can be manufactured to any design criteria including earthquakes or high  cyclonic winds

Q: How much time does it take to build various sizes of tanks.
A: Tanks up to  230m³ can be built in 1 day. A 2,000m³ tank would take between 10 and 21 days depending on conditions.

Q: Is the Liner Safe for Drinking Water?
A: Yes. Our liners pass all the Australian and International standards for potable liners. Polyethylene and Metallocene are generally recognised as the most stable and safest food grade materials available. See the tank liners page for more information on our Hydrashield liner.

Q: Can I Collect the Rainwater Off the Roof of My Water Tank?
A: Yes. Rhino offers Rainsaver Caps that can be installed around the circumference of the tank roof and the water flows down the roof corrugations, through the Rainsaver Cap screens and into the tank. Unlike other roof harvesting systems, this option allows you to collect the tank roof water whilst keeping your tank sealed from dust, insects and other vermin.

Q: Are the Tank Trusses Hot Dipped Galvanised for Added Strength and Durability?
A: All the trusses used in the installation of a Rhino Water Tank are hot dipped galvanised ensuring protection from condensation corrosion.
