Rhino Tank for Noorat Primary School

Noorat Primary School didn't have to look far for a Rhino Tanks installer when they required a tank for their schoolyard. John Irving and his team are the Sth West Victorian installers for Rhino Tanks and live in the small town near Terang in Victoria. The school had their new 180,000 Litre rhino tank installed in 2009 with funding from a Government grant. The tank is to be used for the toilets and the oval irrigation.

Fire Tanks at Geelong Grammar

These 2 recently installed 100,000 Litre Rhino tanks are specifically for emergency fire water storage to operate the hydrants throughout the College in a fire emergency due to the mains supply having insufficient pressure.

Gunning Primary School

Gunning Primary School have installed a 100,000 Litre Sandbank Rhino Tank to capture roof runoff for use back within the school. The tank was arranged through one of Rhino's affiliated companies Gunning Rural Supplies.

Whittlesea Secondary College

WSC used funding from the Community Water Grants to install 2 x 186,809 Litre Rhino Water Tanks to store water to irrigate ovals. Until recently, all stormwater from the entire school ran out into a nearby river. Now, the stormwater is first collected in a small settling tank and then pumped into the Rhino Tanks ready for the irrigation system. Any overflow now runs into some custom designed wetlands areas that the students use as a resource for their studies. Not only are the ovals looking greener, but the students also have a fabulous resource at their fingertips.

School Camps

The FOURPOST YOUTH CAMP in Deniliquin caters for numerous school camps throughout the year and almost entirely runs off tank water. The stormwater from the 2 main accommodation blocks runs into 2 separate RHINO tanks and the camp has just been successful with a water grant to install a third tank next to the dining hall. All showers, toilets and washing basins are connected to these tanks and the overflow runs into a manmade lake that is used for rafting and environmental activities. Geebung Special School

Geebung Special School had an unusual problem brought about by the drought. Not only did it need to satisfy the usual water requirements faced by any school but it also required to regularly water its unique sensory garden that has more than fifty different plants that have been specially selected for their aroma and texture. The school now has RHINO tanks with storage capacity of approximately 220,000 litres.

Each day it provides services to 150 students who have severe intellectual and physical disabilities. A further 70 school staff and volunteers are also involved daily in the programs. The school facilities are accessed by other community groups on weekends and after school. The water consumption at the school is very high.

In the last three months, the school considers it has saved over 100,000 litres. Other results include increased school community awareness and students being made aware of conserving water at all times.

Fyans Park Primary School

Fyans Park Primary School in Victoria recently installed 2 x 37,000 Litre tanks and 1 x 125,000 Litre tank with their Green Voucher (NSSF) funding. The tanks will be used to store the harvested stormwater from classroom roofs and use on nearby gardens.

National Solar Schools Program

$50,000 GREEN VOUCHERS CHANGES NAME (and conditions)

On July 1st 2008 the $50,000 GREEN VOUCHER grants for every school in Australia changed to the National Solar Schools Program. Although Schools will still be able to claim a grant for installing Water Tanks, the water tank component has reduced to a maximum of $30,000 instead of the full $50,000.
